In 2009, BCDC held an international design competition for ideas responding to Sea Level Rise. Within San Francisco Bay rising tides currently are projected at 1.5 meters within the next century, the objective of the competition was to bring awareness to the public through design as this pressing issue will affect many areas throughout the world. 130 entries from 18 countires responded with a range of innovative and thoughtful ideas. 6 winners were chosen, as the answer to sea level rise is likely a combination of proposals and will take collaboration through many different professionals.
